PROFILE:
monica ursino's Photo

Monica is a catholic singer and songwriter. If you are looking for good alternative Christian Music look no further. You've found it. Monica was born on September 17, 1979 in Massachusetts, USA. When she was young she was a rebellious child. As a theatre and film student, her career began in Boston when she worked as a production assistant and an actor/extra on many films. Some of her film credits include The Blue Diner (PBS), The Perfect Storm and The Gentlemen from Boston & Deportation.

Monica progressed to the job of production manager and had a leading role in the Independent BWAY7 production called Deportation. In addition, she started working as a DJ in Europe and she began to spend many summers going from Boston to Southern Italy, where she worked for many famous discotheques on the Ionian coast. It was here that she worked as a promoter with Radio Clip, a European radio station and she also competed in the Miss Italia beauty pageant.

Music has always been a part of Monica's life. She worked with an audio programme until she was able to mix, write, edit, record and produce her own music. She taught herself basic chords on the guitar and derived many of her songs from this. Monica was a guest on the Conan O'Brien show, where she met someone who recommended her to the Jimi Hendrix Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village. The Studios hired her soon after.

Monica then graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and attended the Health Careers Program at Harvard University, since she intended to become a doctor. But her love for music was greater, and she was determined to follow this dream of hers.

Monica had withdrawn from the program when she was asked to travel to Cinecitta' studios (the Italian Hollywood) in Rome to be interviewed for the Mel Gibson movie, THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST. Monica was out of 200 applicants, in this time also, one of the four chosen to participate in the WB56 tribute to 9/11, which was aired on September 11th, 2002. Monica presented her personal journal entry of that horrific day and appeared on television with political leaders.

monica

Monica feels that without GOD none of this would have been possible and much of her upcoming success is because of HIM.

Her upbringing helped her gain the gift of faith in God. learning that "with God, all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26).

When she was fifteen years old, her grandmother had died. She was very close to her, she felt as if she had lost her mother. Her hurt was expressed in rebellion. When looking back at these times in her life Monica realizes what she was lacking:

GOD

She says: " Without GOD, how can one find true happiness? Why was I so distant from HIM? It was not as if I ever disbelieved in HIS existence. I mean, how could a girl with so many spiritual childhood experiences ever forget about HIM?"

As a result of this experience, she began praying again, asking GOD to show her THE WAY, "And that is just what HE did!" Just as Monica's mother always says, "To whom much is given, much is expected," Monica Claire Ursino knew better than what she was doing. Since the day she was born, her mother, Rosalba Ursino, showed her what Love truly is. The Faith in GOD that her mother brought into her life is what allows her to live her life day to day and Monica now realizes that it is only with GOD that we can survive the many trials and tribulations we all face.

"MAY GOD USE ME AS HIS INSTRUMENT THROUGH THE GIFT OF MUSIC TO BRING ABOUT A CHANGE WITHIN THE HEARTS OF MY LISTENERS."

You can hear three tracks from Monica's CD, "The Way", on Maltanetworkresources Internet radio Songs of Praise.

My internet radio netcast was the first internet netcasting from Malta in the Maltese language, originally using Realaudio (a charismatic programme about Jesus Christ and healing - www.catholichealing.com, formerly www.tigisaltnatek.uu.mt since 1996/7) - basically the songs of praise internet radio now replaces that programme which I used to netcast).
