Local Elections: MLP wins by 53.2%. PN gets 44.1%

On Saturday 12th March 2005, voting took place in 21 localities including Ta' Xbiex in Malta for the Local Council elections. Malta has 68 local councils, and voting takes place every three years.

MLP Leader Alfred Sant Resigns (Not)

The opposition leader Dr Alfred Sant has resigned as leader following his party's recent loss at the elections (both this year and in 98) and referendum.

UPDATE: Dr Sant has not resigned following appeals from some Labour local councillors.
