Rendezvous with Spring

The Rendezvous with Spring Gala Evening by the Xiamen University Student Arts Troupe

The Confucius Institute at the University of Malta is pleased to invite you to an exciting artistic performance to be held on Tuesday, 2 February 2010 at the University of Malta, Sir Temi Zammit Hall at 1830hrs.

This is the first time that this concert by the Xiamen University Student Arts Troupe has ever performed in Europe and it shall be followed by a series of others, in particular, in our European counterparts such as Germany and Luxembourg.

Xiamen University Student Arts Troupe, as the name suggests, consists mainly of talented students with a passion for the arts. It includes a choir, a dance troupe, an orchestra of traditional Chinese musical instruments, a hip-hop dance troupe, a cross-talk act team and a catwalk modelling team. The troupe members are selected by each individual school and college from among both undergraduate and graduate students. Ever since its establishment, the Arts Troupe has been very active in livening up campus culture and promoting excellent traditional Chinese arts on campus, a unique part of students’ life.

The Rendezvous with Spring Gala Night to be presented by the Arts Troupe is a wealth of artistic performances imbued with strong Chinese ethnic characteristics, including performances on the erhu, the pipa, the ‘yangqin’ Chinese dulcimer and the bamboo flute, and of martial arts, local Fujian puppet theatre, and ethnic songs and dances from Yunnan, Tibet, and Xinjiang.

A troupe of dancers from the University of Xiamen in China is one of the leading attractions in this festival.

All in-house parties at the University of Malta, visitors, and guests are warmly welcome to attend.
If you are interested to hear more about the event, please contact Ms Anabelle Scicluna, Secretary, Confucius Institute.

Entrance is free of charge.
